Großer Torso / Large Torso

Inspired by an accident he had experienced, the artist decided to create a work on the topic of legs for the 2nd Soest Bildhauersymposium. The outstretched stylized legs are bent at right angles. The upper body and feet are only implied, and not part of the sculpture, making the work seem like a largely abstract form. Instead of a human body, it could also be seen as an architectural detail, such as the remains of a window frame, a portal, or supporting beams. This analogy between architectural elements and the human body can often be found in the artist’s work; for example, when he creates five-part works in reference to the human hand with its five fingers.
