Kugelpendant / Spherical Pair
Heinz-Günter Prager’s minimalist work seeks to create a bridge between the past and the present in the viewer’s imagination. The sculpture is made up of two steel hemispheres: one is set high in the exterior castle wall, while the other rests on a rectangular steel plate on the grass a short distance away.
Only an attentive passerby will notice that the two elements are connected. The sphere in the stone wall is reminiscent of a relic of the past, such as a cannon ball that was firmly lodged in place. Because of the steel plinth, the half-sphere on the ground may be seen as a modern work of art and a mental connection can be established.
