Maßlos / Excessive
Artist Lutz Fritsch has already installed vertical monochrome stelae as landmarks in a variety of locations. One of these stelae is located in front of the Museum Schloss Morsbroich, where its bright red surface complements and contrasts the surrounding green nature. As a location specific sculpture, Excessive reacts to the palace complex and breaks through its symmetry.
The stele continuously draws attention to itself with its signal red color, standing as a counterpoint to the palace, courtyard, and park area. The minimalistic placement also changes viewers’ perspectives by sensitizing them to their surroundings: attentiveness is increased, the gaze is more focused.
