Wooden Pavilion

The pavilion on Brunnenplatz serves as evidence of the Hustadt-Projekt that began in 2008. The architect/artist took part in it with a nearly four-year long participatory work. In collaboration with residents, local associations and institutions, a joint work was created that included the pavilion, as well as an equipment room, a blackboard, technical equipment in the back area, seating in the middle, and herb gardens.

The work was not about creating a final sculpture, but a process of development that would bring together different participants and lead to a new bonds within the neighborhood. As such, it was less about constructing a physical space and more about a social one. In addition to the past and the present, this notion of process also includes future possibilities in the community-based design.
