Plastik Frankfurt / Frankfurt Sculpture
Erich Reusch coined the term “decentralized sculpture” for his work. It not only indicates that his sculptures consist of several parts with no visual center, but also that the space between the elements is incorporated as an important part of the work.
The Frankfurt Sculpture is located off the central path that runs through the park at Haus Weitmar and is made up of three parts. These parts include a vertical square steel plate, a flat steel plate, and a 20cm wide square steel frame with grass growing in the center.
The three objects form a loose group, incorporating the space in between them. In this way, the viewer can explore the ensemble from different perspectives, but only see it in entirety by walking around it.
