Sphärische Linien / Spherical Lines

Norbert Kricke introduced the line as a design element in the abstract sculpture of the post war period. While his Spatial Sculptures feature linear metal wires or tubes that dynamically pass through space, this work divides the surface of the concrete wall along the Autobahn bridge: the two crossing, slightly curved metal tubes seem to take on the form of the surrounding sloping landscape and Autobahn. The artist’s reduced abstract formal language also conveys a sense of freedom and movement.
