Three Way Piece No. 2: The Archer Archive
Known briefly as “The Archer,” this sculpture is one of British sculptor Henry Moore’s most important works. It exists in two monumental bronze casts and was created for the forecourt of the City Hall of Toronto/Canada, where it corresponds with the latter’s flowing lines and was installed in 1966. The second copy was installed on the terrace of the Berlin Neue Nationalgalerie in 1968. In 2015, renovation work began there that required the sculpture to go into storage. That was the only reason why the opportunity arose to bring the sculpture to Münster as a loan for the exhibition “Henry Moore. Impuls für Europa” (Impulse for Europe), which the museum presented in 2016/17, and where it has stood on the museum forecourt ever since.

Schulbesuch.
1917
Militärdienst: Im November 1917 wird er in der Schlacht bei Cambrai verwundet und nach London zurückgeschickt.
1919
Arbeit als Lehrer; im September erhält er ein Stipendium und meldet sich in Leeds an der School of Art an. Es gibt keine Bildhauerausbildung, die Schule richtet eine eigene Fakultät für Moore ein.
1921
Stipendium für das Londoner Royal College of Art (es folgen Stipendien in Paris und Italien).
1925
Das Royal College of Art verpflichtet den 28-Jährigen auf 7 Jahre als Lehrkraft.
1928
erste Einzelausstellung in der Warren Gallery, London.
1929
Heirat und die erste liegende Figur.
1930
Mitglied der Gruppe Unit One.
1932–1939
übernimmt er die Bildhauerausbildung an der Chelsea School of Art.
1936
Reise nach Spanien und Übersiedlung nach Much Hadham.

Trustee der Tate Gallery.

Ehrendoktor der Universität Leeds.

New York, Retrospektive des Museum of Modern Art.

Großer Preis für Plastik der Biennale von Venedig.

verstärkt graphische Arbeiten; Erasmuspreis.

Ehrenbürger von Mailand.
1978
Das Henry Moore-Skulpturzentrum in Toronto wird eröffnet. In seinem Besitz befinden sich mehr als 500 Arbeiten des Künstlers.
