Untitled

Wilfried Hagebölling refers to a certain group of his sculptures as “floor pieces” or “spatial lanes.” In these works, the primary focus is to give structure to the setting — they rest directly on the ground and cut through the space. This particular work is a Kunst am Bau project for the newly constructed Kreishaus. It consists of three identical T-shaped elements. In turn, each of these elements was assembled from three steel plates — the trunk of the T is a long steel sheet and the top is made up of two perpendicular sheets that are half its length. These elements structure the lawn behind Kreishaus. The tops of two of the t-shapes interact with the east facade of the building, with one element partially embedded into the soil. The head of the third element is aligned in the direction of the road. Here, Wilfried Hagebölling deals with the right angle in the context of architectural and natural surroundings.
